Healthy Skin Oils

Before using essential oils, seek input from your dermatologist, especially if you have any underlying conditions like eczema, rosacea, or psoriasis. Stop using essential oils immediately if you experience any negative reactions. Do not take them by mouth, and you should not attempt to self-treat any underlying medical condition. Ask a doctor before using essential oils if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Hemp seed oil is produced from the hemp seed and usually does not contain any THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the psychoactive component. It differs from cannabidiol (CBD) oil, which is an extract of the cannabis plant and uses hemp flowers and leaves for its production. The hemp seed oil has various health benefits, including enhancing skin health and anti-acne benefits. It is so beneficial for skin health due to its nourishing vitamins and moisturizing qualities. Hemp seed oil is amazing for most skin types because it can moisturize without clogging your pores.

Hemp seed oil can even help to balance out oily skin, hydrating it, and controlling the skin’s oil production. Skin Dryness can also provoke your skin to overproduce oil, which in turn, can stimulate acne. Hemp seed oil can counteract dry skin without obstructing pores.

This helps diminish acne that is created by excess oil. Certain oils are not as good for acne like olive and coconut, for example, are comedogenic, meaning that they will clog your pores.

Hemp is a healthy oil for greasy skin types because it is recognized as a dry oil, so it absorbs promptly and is not greasy. Using it on the skin, some people may experience mild sensitivity, so apply it to a small test a patch of skin first.

The essential oils that I use all have natural benefits as well!

Lavender may help balance out moisture levels in your skin. It has anti-inflammatory properties, can reduce redness, and is a natural moisturizer that can repair dry skin.Chamomile oil contains azulene, known for increasing moisture and reducing inflammation. However, you may want to avoid it if you have ragweed allergies, as chamomile may be a trigger.

Sandalwood contains compounds known for reducing inflammation while promoting moisture in the skin.

Rosemary oil is noted for its anti-inflammatory, stimulating, and analgesic properties. Its key ingredients, such as esters, may help keep excess sebum at bay. Researchers have noted it can help with both greasy hair and dandruff and may even stimulate hair growth.

Frankincense can help alleviate oily and acne-prone skin while providing lipids for aging skin.

Geranium can help balance our skin oils. With high alkalinity, geranium a key addition to soaps because it is helpful in evening out hydration levels.Delicate skin can be either dry or oily, and can sometimes occur alongside allergies, eczema, and other skin conditions.

If you have sensitive skin, you will want to steer clear of highly acidic oils such as lemon and lemongrass.

Lavender, frankincense, sandalwood and patchouli oils are considered safe for all skin types and may aid with anti-aging.

      With any acne skincare regimen, you must remove excess oils and bacteria without dehydrating the skin, as this can drive increased oil production. Inflammation can be a different relevant factor to acne breakouts. Both rosemary and frankincense are known for treating acne by reducing microbial and inflammation. 

      Lemon oil is derived from the peel of the citrus fruit, can help fight inflammation and free radicals that can contribute to acne and photo-aging.

      Tea tree is derived from the melaleuca tree, tea tree oil is one of the most renowned antiseptics in alternative medicine. It helps combat bacteria and inflammation, both of which can add to acne breakouts.

      Specific essential oils also can balance out moisture and relieve the itchiness of skin rashes. These include atopic dermatitis (eczema) and psoriasis.

      Lavender and geranium essential oils are good for skin rashes as well.

      The next essential oils that have pain-relieving qualities:

      Peppermint: The natural menthol content produces an analgesic result on the skin. It cools down hot rashes, too.

      Eucalyptus is another oil noted for its pain-relieving qualities. It may also replenish moisture to itchy, sensitive skin rashes.

      Patchouli oil is known for reducing both pain and inflammation. These qualities are especially helpful for treating eczema rashes.

      Ylang-ylang may also help inhibit skin pigmentation. Other oils that may work for skin pigmentation:

      • frankincense for age spots
      • geranium to even out tone
      • lemon to fight free radicals
      • lavender for reduced redness

       

      Rose Oil has antioxidants like vitamins A and C, rose oil can help support skin cell turnover, which usually reduces with age. 

      Myrrh was used by Egyptian women for anti-aging skincare regimens. This antioxidant-rich oil is believed to improve circulation, generating brighter and more refined-looking skin.

      Essential Oils that May Cause Photo-toxic or Photosensitive Reactions (photo-sensitivity is a process where a given chemical absorbs ultraviolet light and initiates a reaction, typically on the skin): Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Bitter Orange, and Cumin!

      Bathing in essential oils can also work well for a variety of skin conditions. 

      While essential oils are natural, they can be just as powerful as usual skin medications. With their anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and soothing properties, essential oils are used for a variety of skincare concerns. 

      While research into the efficacy of essentials is ongoing, advocates say

      oils can help dry, oily, and acne-prone skin. 

      Essential oils are either inhaled or used directly on the body. It is not safe to ingest them. Shower after each bath to reduce extra oils on your skin.
